چکیده

Analysis of radio light curves of the γ-ray bright blazar 0202+149 at frequencies of 37, 22, 14.5, 8, and 4.8 GHz during the period 1984-1998 reveals a 4-year cycle of variability with substructure on a shorter time scale of about 1.3-yr. The 4.8-37 GHz spectral index of the source gradually increases from −0.04 (T=1990.2) to 0.4 (T=1996.6) and during outbursts shows strong variations with a time scale of about 1 year and an amplitude up to ∼0.4. VLBI images at 8, 22, and 43 GHz show a core-dominated structure with a faint jet in the northwest direction, which we trace out to 7 mas, with a bent inner part (r ≤1 mas) consisting of at least 2 components. The connection of the jet activity with the 4-year cycle of total flux density variability is discussed.

IGR J12319–0749: evidence for another extreme blazar found with INTEGRAL

We report on the identification of a new soft gamma-ray source, IGR J12319–0749, detected with the IBIS imager on board the INTEGRAL satellite. The source, which has an observed 20−100 keV flux of ∼8.3 × 10−12 erg cm−2 s−1, is spatially coincident with an active galactic nucleus (AGN) at redshift z = 3.12. The broad-band continuum, obtained by combining XRT and IBIS data, is flat (Γ = 1.3) with...

Spectral Energy Distributions of Gamma-ray Blazars

Average Spectral Energy Distributions (SED) for different subgroups of blazars are derived from available homogeneous (but small) data sets, including the gamma–ray band. Comparing Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars (FSRQ) with BL Lacs extracted from radio (RBL) or X–ray surveys (XBL) remarkable differences and similarities are apparent: i) in all cases the overall SED from radio to gamma–rays shows t...

Radio - optical flux behavior and spectral energy distribution of the intermediate blazar GC 0109 + 224

About twenty years of radio observations in five bands (from 4.8 to 37 GHz) of the BL Lac object GC 0109+224 (S2 0109+22, RGB J0112+227), are presented and analysed together with the optical data. Over the past ten years this blazar has exhibited enhanced activity. There is only weak correlation between radio and optical flares delays, usually protracted on longer timescales in the radio with r...

High-energy sources at low radio frequency: the Murchison Widefield Array view of Fermi blazars

Context. Low-frequency radio arrays are opening a new window for the study of the sky, both to study new phenomena and to better characterize known source classes. Being flat-spectrum sources, blazars are so far poorly studied at low radio frequencies. Aims. We characterize the spectral properties of the blazar population at low radio frequency, compare the radio and high-energy properties of t...

15 GHz Monitoring of Gamma-ray Blazars with the OVRO 40 Meter Telescope in Support of Fermi

Since mid-2007, we have been monitoring 1200 sources at 15 GHz with the 40 M Telescope at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory. Our ∼ sample, mostly blazars, is monitored at least twice per week, yielding densely-sampled light curves. A large fraction of the sources in our sample exhibit significant variation in 15 GHz flux density, enabling variability studies and crosscorrelations with other ba...
